By law, invasive weeds such as Japanese Knotweed (JKW) must be treated as controlled substances. These weeds can cause incredible damage.

They have an extensive underground root (rhizome) network that, depending on ground conditions, can extends several metres. All new plants are created by fragments of existing plants.

Each plant can spread amazingly quickly - seeming almost to be intelligent. If not treated correctly the plant will come back and continue to uproot tarmac and paving - they can even topple walls.

Other weeds such as Giant Hogweed and Himalayan Balsam quickly take hold of an area and suppress the growth of other plants. Hogweed and Ragwort can also be poisonous to humans and animals.
